The James Barker Band has returned with their first release since reuniting with Universal Music Canada: the emotionally charged single “You Didn’t Hear It From Me.” This track highlights the award-winning band’s ability to connect deeply with listeners through their authentic storytelling and relatable themes.
“You Didn’t Hear It From Me” delves into the raw emotions of heartbreak in a small-town setting, painting a vivid picture of vulnerability and quiet pain. The lyrics reflect the tension of running into your ex’s friends and trying to maintain composure while secretly wishing your ex knows how much they’re missed.
Lead vocalist James Barker shared, “This song was our way of finding a new angle on small-town breakups. It’s like, ‘Don’t tell her I’m hurting, but also maybe do.’ It’s a feeling a lot of people have experienced, especially in tight-knit communities.” 
Accompanying the release is an official music video that visually complements the song’s poignant themes.
Comprised of James Barker, Connor Stephen, Taylor Abram, and Bobby Martin, the band first rose to fame at the 2015 Emerging Artist Showcase at Boots and Hearts Music Festival.
