New Zealand singer and musician Harper Finn unleashes a new upbeat single ‘Different Skies‘, announces forthcoming EP ‘Newcomer’
Hot on the heels of his win of New Zealand’s coveted Breakthrough Artist of the Year Award at December’s Aotearoa Music Awards, Harper Finn debuts his first music of 2022 with brand new single ‘Different Skies’ taken from his forthcoming NEWCOMER EP.
‘Different Skies’ follows first love: the hope that it will last forever, the acceptance it often has to end, but also the belief that if it’s meant to be, you’ll meet again. It has a special resonance now, with so many people separated during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Set for release later this year, NEWCOMER will also feature previous singles ‘Conversations With The Moon’, ‘She Said’, ‘Good For Me’, Harper’s Gold certified single ‘Dance Away These Days’, alongside a further three brand new tracks.
The creation of the project spans a couple of years, beginning in Germany, and taking an unusual trajectory last year. In June Harper headed to Sydney for four days and was immediately locked down for a month. Figuring it was easier to get back to New Zealand from the US than Australia, he booked a flight to LA – and ended up being away from home for three months.
However, 2021 certainly ended on a high for Harper Finn when he won the 2021 Breakthrough Artist of the Year award at December’s Aotearoa Music Awards. He says, “Being nominated seems like an award in itself – and this award is such a motivating and energizing thing to be bestowed on me”.
For now, in these uncertain times and not knowing what lies ahead, like Harper in many ways, we are all newcomers.
