Hannah Wants reaches out on heartfelt new song “Cure My Desire” featuring Clementine Douglas via Defected Records
Featuring vocalist-of-the-moment Clementine Douglas, whose recent collaborators include Dom Dolla, TSHA, and Sonny Fodera, this record showcases a softer side to Hannah’s sound. An artist whose DJ sets span “house and many of its beautiful subgenres”, the record demonstrated Hannah’s versatility as a producer.
Written by Hannah about her public breakup in 2020, the video tells the story of what happened through a deeply personal lens with cameos of Hannah herself throughout. The sapphic relationship in the video is portrayed by real-life couple, Lauren Roye and Maya Mayall, who attended the single launch party alongside video director Miranda May.
In the music video, which features LGBTQ+ / lesbian representation, Hannah says:
“I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason. That 2020 breakup of mine ended up being a huge blessing in disguise which is why the video ends on such a positive note where the girl realizes that she is far better off without a certain someone in her life. ‘Cure My Desire’ will forever be a favorite record of mine that means the most. It was written and produced at a time when I was going through the most traumatic, public, and painful breakup and Clementine’s vocals resonated so perfectly.“
She also adds: From the song’s inception, I only had one record label in mind, Defected, and I always knew I wanted to make an official video to encapsulate the experience. It was one of the most difficult periods of my life on a personal level but the creation of this song was literally my catharsis and way of healing.”
