Gretta Ziller Gives Us A Little Taste From Her Upcoming Album With New Single “Fan the Fire“
The new single ‘Fan the Fire’ is an anthemic paean to embracing demons and doubts and harnessing their creative power. It’s an arresting showcase of Ziller’s powerful vocal and alchemical sound and songwriting style, which meld the singular artist’s musical roots in blues, rock, jazz, pop, and classical with the immediacy and authenticity of Americana to kaleidoscopic effect. ‘Fan the Fire’ was produced by Paul Ruske and engineered by Richard Stolz (Tones & I, Tash Sultana, Paul Kelly, Husky) and Richard Dodd (Tom Petty, George Harrison, Roy Orbison).
Gretta shares, “Fan the Fire is all about not letting your inner fears, doubts, insecurities get the better of you. I wrote this song to remind myself to not let them push me around and keep me down. Arlo and I wanted to create a visual representation of that. The dancer (Alya) represents those inner demons that we all have, and the cloth those invisible ties we create to the negativities in our thoughts. Sometimes we let those things push and pull us around, the trick is to learn how to ‘turn the table’ on them and make them fuel to your flame!“
The album was long-listed for the 2018 Australian Music Prize, and was nominated for The Age Music Victoria Awards. Ziller has been an APRA PD finalist, performed at Australian Music Week, and netted two Golden Guitar nominations.Â
Ziller is set to premiere new songs and showcase established favorites at Sydney’s Lord Gladstone Hotel on 25th March. Catch Gretta at one of these venues below.
