Rising singer and songwriter Grace McKagan shares new single ‘Baby That’s Rock n Roll‘ featured along with an official video
The new single Grace McKagan Baby That’s Rock N Roll, features Grace’s lo-fi vocals laid against gritty textured guitar hooks and grungy bass lines provide the perfect backdrop to deliver an effortlessly cool and sexy reclamation of what rock n roll means to her.
Grace shares, “Rock n roll has a deep authenticity which can sometimes get lost in how it’s portrayed in mainstream pop culture and the song is a bit of a nod to that.” States Grace. “I really love songs that have an infectious and cool rhythm paired with a fun story. Songs like “Hands Around My Throat” by Death In Vegas and artists including Suicide, Iggy Pop, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.” The track was recorded in her hometown of Seattle last spring during the pandemic with producer Isaac Carpenter and bandmates Blues Williams, and Trent Peltz.
“The narrative flow in “Baby That’s Rock N Roll” follows a story of somebody living a life of what they believe is “living like a rockstar”” explains Grace.
From her perfectly-careless poised cigarette to her cheeky facial expressions during the line “Now baby, that’s rock and roll,” Grace pokes fun at the cheesy side of rock while paying homage to its roots.
The new EP is slated to arrive this spring, which all started with her first single “Surrender” featured on L’Officiel in December 2020 which signified the start of her new solo career after being the frontwoman in The Pink Slips since she was 15.
