Rising Japanese pop artist Grace Aimi Unveils a brand new emotional single “Rainbow” from Debut EP “Picnic”
The new single “Rainbow” perfectly channels the pain of struggling to understand someone who’s emotionally out of reach. As the track shows the sheer range of her voice — soaring and soulful one moment, slipping into a hip-hop-inspired cadence the next — Grace warmly delivers her poetic lyrics (“If you could just explain to me what all your colors mean/Then I’ll know what to say when you’re feeling low”).
The track features shimmering textures and infectious trap-pop beats, “Rainbow” contrasts its melancholy mood with a certain carefree energy. That contrast in tone is essential to Grace, who proudly states her intentions to “never make a sad-sounding sad song.” “Rainbow” arrives as the follow-up to Grace’s recent single “True Feelings,” a March release that brings bluesy acoustic guitar work to her sweet confession of hidden sadness.
The PICNIC EP will feature Grace’s previously released singles “Eternal Sunshine,” “Open,” and “My Eyes” (a piano-driven track that dropped in February and quickly landed on Apple Music’s New in Pop playlist).
