London rising star George Riley bring us a new powerful single ‘TRIXXX‘ featured along with official video
Riley’s kaleidoscopic take on modern soul takes on new forms today with the release of her new single, ‘TRIXXX’.
The rising star has joined with regular collaborator Oliver Palfreyman for ‘TRIXXX’ – a song that maximizes its diverse influences to take her sound to uncharted territories. Starting with a disorientating soundscape, ‘TRIXXX’ bubbles and whirrs with a sparse groove.
Heavily saturated bass notes cascade against shards of opposing synth textures, with Riley’s fragile yet powerful jazz inflected delivery providing the thread to tie the fractured elements together. A bracingly self-assured showing, the track spotlights George Riley’s ease with taking the road less travelled; eschewing genre convention to provide a sound that’s uncompromising in tone yet devastatingly immediate.
The new single ‘TRIXXX’ deals with falling through the traps of the online representations of others and toxic self-comparison. Through this concept the track also explores the idealisation of eurocentricity and popularity’s role in society’s collective self-absorption.
Throughout ‘TRIXXX’, Riley examines the fact that via the constant chasing of clout and society’s cosmetic preference towards whiteness, Black womxn are consistently chasing a demon that takes from their culture while criticising the people behind it.
A unique statement that shows George Riley’s intent to fuse and twist a multitude of sounds at will, ‘TRIXXX’ is the perfect encapsulation of Riley as an artist; dynamic, assertive and highly inventive.
Only three songs into her career, ‘TRIXXX’ provides an enticing insight into the future of George Riley – one of 2021’s most exciting emerging prospects whose immense aspirations are only matched by her cosmic inspirations.
