Gold Coast rising duo GENIIE BOY reveals their brand new indie-pop single ‘Bad Company‘
Hailing down from Gold Coast, the rising duo are back with a new magnificent single ‘Bad Company’, out July 16 ahead of their debut EP ‘If You Have Something To Say’.
After their first two releases, ‘Fool’s Play’ and ‘Bruises’, which have gained thousands of streams, they have exhibited the duo’s vibrant and charismatic style that latches on and doesn’t let go.
The new single ‘Bad Company’ bursts with a high-spirited energy and charm that’s pushed forward by Alisha Todd’s yearning vocals. From bubbling synths and precisely picked guitar lines to the running basslines and captivating array of percussion. This combination, alongside the spellbinding vocal melodies, makes ‘Bad Company’ so inviting.
The duo shares, “‘Bad Company’ is about finding your voice again and playing with the idea that you are bad company when you are not being true to yourself. It also talks about external entities influencing who you become, usually at a cost to someone’s happiness/fulfilment.“
Naturally, the upbeat, inspiring, and freeing feeling of the track is a fitting reminder to be loud, be proud and be the best company. Alisha Todd elaborates the meaning behind the track:
Since their first single “Fool’s Play”, GENIIE BOY has been found in good company as they’ve graced the main stage at Jungle Love Festival and performed at the internationally recognized So Far Sounds as well as grabbing the attention of the likes Spotify (‘Bruises’ landed on ‘Fuzzy’ playlist), Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, AAA Backstage, Blank GC, Scenestr and more.
In 2021, we all can watch for some amazing new releases from the rising duo, as their forthcoming new EP is coming on August 27.
