Popstar on the rise Gabrielle Current returns with a new amazing single “If I Fall” lifted from her forthcoming debut EP, “Virgo“
The new single brims with introspection through every line and bouncing chord. Time stands still from start to finish as “If I Fall” kindly envelopes the listener on a cloud while providing permission to process and re-evaluate.
Gabrielle shares, “With this song, I wanted to capture how loss gave me a new understanding of myself as well as the habits and patterns we choose,” explains Gabrielle Current, “It was through the letting go that I gained an independence and a freedom that could only come from me.”
The build up provides a safe and secure warmth—first starting off with a simple drum and bass, an inviting guitar groove, and then intertwining with glistening keys as you come to terms with your innermost thoughts and feelings.
On the track, Gabrielle Current notes, “‘If I Fall’ is about falling in and out of love with someone then losing communication and contact with them. By reminiscing about the end of the relationship, I learned more about myself and the person who left me. I found it interesting how time away from that person brought a new perspective and closeness to the relationship we once had.”
In addition to the new single, Gabrielle Current announces her Virgo EP—a profound 5-track collection complemented by tender vocals and melodies that truly hug your heart. Unrestricted by genre and pop traditions, Current brings refreshing vulnerability with each release as she welcomes listeners into her world of discovery. Her previous singles “Plenty” focus on the struggles of toxic relationships while “Down The Line” highlights the hardship of letting go. Ultimately, the EP—created with Austin Brown (Hablot Brown), Mark Pelli (Sabrina Claudio, Jennifer Lopez), and Charlie Perry (Jorja Smith, BTS)—seamlessly replays like a sonic diary for all of us trying to figure out the meaning of life.
Gabrielle’s wide-eyed musings on the human experience that really strikes a chord. “…it’s harder to be honest in a song, but finding out something about yourself in the act of writing always feels better than making up a story,” says Current, “I relate most to female artists when their songs feel personal and intimate because I feel like I can share the same emotion they’re going through, almost like we are healing together. I’d like to offer that sentiment in my work too.” This authenticity is reflected in her songwriting, which serves as raw documentation of the complexities of life, love, and everything in between.
Gabrielle Current’s first solo body of work, the multi-faceted rising star has been involved in the arts and entertainment world since she was 5-years-old, attending a performing arts school and receiving classical vocal and piano training all through childhood.
Gabrielle adds, “My main goal for music is to spread love and encourage community, it’s just how I was taught growing up. I’m proud of my Asian-American heritage and I’ve learned through my Filipino culture how important our values of family and togetherness is. There weren’t many Asian artists in music when I was younger, or artists that looked like me to begin with,” Gabrielle Current reflects, “So I hope to be a voice that inspires and shows that there is room for everyone in all genres/styles. My taste in music is as diverse as my ethnicity and my personality. I hope to connect with as many people as possible through the songs I share by not just being one thing.”
Her ability to curate meaningful songs and connect with the new gen has left a lasting imprint on those she teams up with, so it’s no surprise that FINNEAS (Billie Eilish, Celeste, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato) named her one of his favorite artists to work with (in an interview with Ones To Watch).
Gabrielle Current has amassed 30 million streams and counting collectively, and maintains a steady monthly listenership of 100 thousand fans between Spotify and YouTube. Frequently featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist, Current’s singles have also landed on Apple Music’s New in Pop, Breaking R&B, and New Music Daily playlists, to name a few.
