Norwegian pop superstar Dagny unleash a new dreamy single “Highs & Lows”
The track arrives in the wake of a busy summer of festival appearances and a run of sold-out headline shows in London, Berlin and Amsterdam. “Highs & Lows” follows the release of recent standalone song “Brightsider” – described by The Guardian as “epic…charged with Boys Of Summer wistfulness”, and her widely praised debut album Strangers / Lovers, released in 2020.
The last song to be released before she begins work on her much-anticipated second full length album, “Highs & Lows” is a moving, personal pop ballad centred around the notion of standing by someone during the most difficult of times.
Dagny says: “I’m very happy to announce “Highs & Lows” – one of the last songs before diving into the process of making a new album. Highs & Lows is one of the most raw songs I’ve ever written. You could say it’s about unconditional love – about steadily standing by someone’s side through all the highs and the lows, all the easy and the challenging. I hope this song is gonna feel like a warm hug for someone who needs it.”
To date, Dagny’s music has been streamed over a billion times, she’s been nominated for 6 Norwegian Grammy’s(Spellemannprisen), co-written songs for Katy Perry, Ashnikko, and Julie Bergan, and collaborated with acts including Liverpool indie-rock heroes The Wombats, American super-producer Steve Aoki, fellow Norwegian powerhouses Astrid S and EDM duo Seeb, and Spanish-English indie-pop outfit Crystal Fighters.
Dagny’s debut album Strangers / Lovers, released in May 2020 proved she’s in the songwriting form of her life, with high praise from The Guardian (“thundering synthpop explosion”), The Independent(“dazzling pop – 8/10”), BBC Music (“one of 2020’s most assured debuts”), The Metro (“sleak, neat set of bops – Albums Of The Week”) and more.
This year, Dagny embarked on a sold-out Norwegian tour that lasted for over two months, selling over 16,000 tickets in the process. She has since returned to play 3 sold out headline shows in London, Berlin and Amsterdam, amidst a busy summer of Norway festivals – most notably a prestigious slot on the main stage at Norway’s biggest summer festival Øyafestivalen.
Dagny‘s new single “Highs & Lows” is out now via her own Little Daggers Records imprint, under an exclusive license agreement with Universal Music AS in a joint venture with Polydor DE.
