Cyn Announce her new latest single “Drinks” with an Official Music Video From Promising Young Woman Official Soundtrack

Cyn reveals her latest single and official music video for “Drinks,” also serving as the lead single from the upcoming Promising Young Woman Official Soundtrack, set for release April 3rd via Capitol Records. An undeniable ear worm, “Drinks” is chock-full of Cyn’s trademark sassy, unfiltered lyricism, buoyed by an infectious hook and moody production by collaborators, Ryan Daly and JP Clarke.

Cyn reveals “Drinks is a song that started off as a joke, ‘he got mad, so I got drinks.’ I knew as soon as I said it, the line would find its way into a chorus.” She continues. “Upon watching the movie, Promising Young Woman, I felt more inspired to finish my song. The chorus was written before I saw the movie, and the verses were written in consideration of the movie – knowing that may make a listening experience a little more interesting,” she explains. “‘Drinks’ and the movie complement one another thematically. For example, both pieces reveal moments of friendship, allegiance, hardship, strength, and of course, pose scenarios where drinks are acquired. I am so excited and thankful for the opportunity to contribute to such an incredible soundtrack.”

On the inspiration behind her official music video for ‘Drinks,’ she revealed it “stemmed from my love of 90s movie aesthetics. I wanted the video to feel like a rom com, set in a movie-like reality, and I had a lot of fun finding a happy median between my world and Cassie’s (the lead character from Promising Young Woman). It was very important for me that the video not feel like it was on a set but more-so in a believable place. And because I worked at Ralph Lauren in college, I am partial to tweed blazers and shirts buttoned all the way up.” She quips.

On working with the director and cast, Cyn reveals, “Under the direction of Taylor Fauntleroy, I saw my daydream really come to life. I am so grateful toward him and his crew for absolutely going above and beyond with the lighting, camera work, and setting (to name a few things). Taylor is a very talented director who I’d work with again and again. While the real-life Alexa was writing music in Nashville, Rachelle, who brought such a strong and confident to demeanor to my partner in crime, starred as Alexa. She is too cool to care and I am living for it. I am so happy to share Drinks with the world, a song I believe to be an empowering take on dealing with the bullshit,” she concludes.

As revealed earlier today by Variety, the Promising Young Woman Official Soundtrack will include 15 songs by female artists plus a piece of score – Anthony Willis’ reimagining of the Britney Spears hit “Toxic.” Lead by “Drinks,” one of two songs written for the film by Cyn, the second being a track called “UH OH.”

The Promising Young Woman Official Soundtrack is now available for pre-order HERE. Those who pre-order the album in digital format will instantly receive “Drinks” by Cyn. Visit the soundtrack’s official website for more information: http://www.promisingyoungwomanost.com
