Pop Star on the Rise CHINCHILLA, returns today with her new official music video for her single ‘The Lockdown Getdown‘
The new single from CHINCHILLA written with close friend Boonif, ‘The Lockdown Getdown’ is social documentation of the current UK restrictions and is an ode to staying fabulous throughout the existing global pandemic. We’re nearing the end of 2020 and although this year has been one of the most testing for many, you’d be a fool to think that the power of funk and nostalgia has gone away.
In her single ‘The Lockdown Getdown’ marries the worlds of 70’s funk with modern pop, pulling the track into the present day with ease and bears all the markings of a CHINCHILLA classic. Featuring her unmistakable vocal layered across a funk-laden, exotic groove, the track contains a street-smart message and offers a tongue-in-cheek perspective of human behaviour as the world collectively begins to while away the days to distract ourselves from the harrowing events outside.
CHINCHILLA says about the new single “I reached a point in lockdown where I got sick of self-care; baths, candles, lavender oil, nourishing meals, exercise, zoom, banana bread, repeat. Pandemics really suck all the fun out of being single too. Well, they suck the fun out of most things. I drew a line one day and decided to dress in my fanciest garms, have discos with my housemates, and flirt with my glorious postman who’d wake me up in the morning with a package and a one liner. Suddenly we were thriving, not just surviving.”
‘The Lockdown Getdown’ is CHINCHILLA’S first release since ‘Awakening’ EP, which came out earlier this year. ‘Awakening’ showcased CHINCHILLA’s incredible powerhouse vocal and was proof that she is a trailblazing badass and a star in the making.
