CHINCHILLA shares the official video for ‘TERMS & CONDITIONS‘ from ‘Moon Maintenance for Dummies‘ EP
Her forward-thinking, emotionally raw song-writing style has led to relatable, cutting-edge intelligent pop that marks her as a unique new artist. She’s an unforgettable force to be reckoned with, with her sights firmly set on turning the industry on its head.
She says: “The ‘Terms & Conditions’ music video is my favourite video I’ve done so far. I’ve always loved the idea of an elaborate Alice in Wonderland-esque Chinchilla world, which I try and get across in some way or another in all my videos, but it really felt like that vision finally came to life in this video. It needed to be playful, sexy, dazzling, elaborate, and just high maintenance to be honest – that’s what the song is and that’s what the music video encaptures! One of my favourite films has always been Moulin Rouge so it goes without saying that that was a heavily planted in my subconscious throughout the course of making this video with creative director Kassandra Powell. From the dancers to the location to the costume – it’s Chinchilla down to a T – the inside of my head. If my DNA was a music video – this would be it. It’s Moulin Rouge meets Alice in Wonderland under a glorious rainbow but the rain is dollar bills and the sun is a perfectly tailored Kyle Ho suit.
The 2020-quarantine-inspired track ‘The Lockdown Get down‘ followed soon after, with her highly anticipated single ‘Fingers’ being the first taste of new music in 2021.
High maintenance baby pink bittersweet pop, like a contagious smile. The track is about wanting someone to quite literally bring you the moon and stars but getting angry when they agree to do so without actually considering how inconvenient that would be for you.
If Lil Nas X and Rihanna had a musical baby, then ‘Trigger’ would be it. ‘Who’s Your Mummy’ is a self-confessed ‘cocky pop banger’, written in the aftermath of CHIN receiving her first ever Radio 1 play. ‘Round Town’ features CHINCHILLA’s partner in crime Ren, who she already has a history of success with. How To Be Me’, which is the pair’s last work together, generated over 3 million streams on Spotify, leaving high expectations for their next collaboration
CHINCHILLA explains; “I feel like these songs are my whole personality. I wanted to just release a bunch of songs where every song is feel-good in its own way, completely different to the others in style but with a through line of uplifting, empowering, attitude. It’s honestly my favourite set of songs I’ve ever released, and I love each one like a child. To have them out in the world is going to be very exciting and very surreal.”
‘Million Dollar Multicolour Bliss’ is sultry, sexy R&B at its finest and feel like the perfect finale. There’s a playfulness to it that’s infectious, leaving you hanging on the edge, ready and waiting for CHINCHILLA’s next move.
