Caity Baser continues story to ‘X&Y (What I Didn’t Say)’ single in a new music video
‘X&Y (What I Didn’t Say)’ is out now via Chosen Music/EMI Records and the video is available to watch now.
Stripped back and acoustic, the new version features Caity backed by vocal harmonies and a soft piano accompaniment as she sings:
“I don’t wanna talk or sort it out, don’t want you to turn up to my house. There’s nothing left for you to explain; I left your shit outside in the rain”.
The original version of ‘X&Y’ tells the story of a recent breakup, with Caity refusing to take back her ex as she lays bare all his shortcomings against an upbeat production courtesy of hit-making production duo Future Cut and acclaimed producer Digital Farm Animals. This tender, more sombre new version continues the story but with Caity disclosing the things she previously left unsaid.
Her two recent singles ‘X&Y’ and ‘Friendly Sex’ have helped earn the acclaimed 20-year-old singer from Southampton an astromical following in a very short amount of time.
At Reading & Leeds Festivals last month, Caity’s performances drew the biggest crowds of the weekend at the BBC Introducing Stage – with her devout fans screaming every word of her lyrics back at her; the singles fast becoming anthems for many of her Gen Z fanbase. The performance caught the eye of the critics too, with NME handpicking Caity as one of the 10 best new acts we saw at Reading & Leeds 2022. In their piece on her they highlight that “her confidence is as captivating as her tunes…a display of pop brilliance by a force of charisma”.
Following these pivotal festival performances, Caity will be playing two highly-anticipated shows next week – at London’s O2 Academy Islington on Thursday and Manchester’s Academy3 on Friday. Tickets for both shows sold out within minutes, such is a rapturous interest in Caity Baser as a rising artist.
