Singer and multi-instrumentalist Brandyn Burnette shares a brand new massive single “SWISH“
The new single “Swish” is a single that exposes his vulnerability and an attempt to adapt to the ways of modern technology when it comes to finding your soul mate, although he remains a bit of a traditional romantic, an old soul.
Brandyn says: “I wrote ‘Swish’ about being single for the first time in six years. My close friends convinced me to try out some dating apps, which I was pretty hesitant about because I was only used to meeting new people naturally. But I decided to try it out and quickly realized it wasn’t for me. A couple days before I went to the studio to write & record ‘Swish’ with my producer Nick Henriques and Diamond Pistols, I saw my ex girlfriend on one of the apps. That’s originally where the inspiration for the line in the song ‘why you tryna make me jealous?’ came from.
And he adds: “The song initially started as a hip hop beat, but I knew that, sonically, I wanted it to sound raw and grungy with live instrumentation. So we decided to reproduce it with live guitar, live bass and drums. During that period of my life, I just wanted to have fun and enjoy being single without the pretense of a serious commitment. My previous relationship was so intense that I just wanted to spend time with girls that wanted to have a good time.”
The track follows on from a string of recent independent releases including ‘Punching Bag’ and ‘Addicted’, with all three tracks set to feature on his forthcoming EP ‘F.A.T.E.’, due out September 17th.
Brandyn co-writing credits include Keith Urban, Rich the Kid, Backstreet Boys, and was recently featured on Afrojack’s ‘Wish You Were Here’
His transcendent, distinctive style is highly intentional: relatable enough to be undeniably catchy, while maintaining a level of earnest vulnerability that’s difficult to come by. Brandyn builds songs that pull from his favorite elements across genres, including an eclectic roster of musicians from John Mayer, to Dominic Fike, to blink-182.
