One month after they release “Jackie Kennedy”, Alt-pop duo Bahari Unveils a new official Video for the single
In the new official video they deliver a moving, yet uplifting portrait of grief and the resonances our loved ones leave behind. Unfurling this story quietly, the duo—Ruby Carr and Natalia Panzarella—sit side by side at a piano. Ruby plays intently, allowing the chords to ring out. Echoing in between, Natalia sings straight from the heart right next to her. Next, Natalia wanders through an ornate empty old mansion in a gothic white dress and sheer white gloves. She falls asleep only to wake up in the glow of her late lover. This lustrous energy shines, illuminating a hint of hope as the final piano chords ring out.
With lyrics pouring out of Natalia about the tragic passing of her first love, she explains: “I never had any intention of this song ever leaving my bedroom, but after realizing it helped me, I can only hope it can at least be a moment of compassion and sympathy that others can relate to. Right now, more than ever we have to check in on each other and be there for one another. It’s okay to feel sad, but it’s really fucking scary feeling alone.”
Last month, Bahari first shared “Jackie Kennedy” alongside the song “Bipolar.” The tracks have already tallied over half-a-million cumulative streams, setting the stage for the premiere of the latest video. Last year, they dropped “Waking Up The Neighbors” and “Savage” remix featuring rapper BIA. Next, the girls are readying more new music, coming soon. You’ll feel the presence, pain, passion, and power of Bahari on “Jackie Kennedy.”
Singer and keyboardist Ruby Carr hails from the tiny island of Lamu off the coast of Kenya, while singer and bassist Natalia Panzarella was born in Nashville but grew up in Southern California. Each of their experiences shapes a dynamic, diverse, and dark take on alternative pop. Generating over 650 million streams and receiving acclaim from Ladygunn, Nylon, Billboard, Ones To Watch, and more, the Los Angeles-based duo bring a shared vision to life.
Bahari earned a viral hit with 2018’s “Savage,” which took on a second life in 2020 with an official remix featuring BIA. Not has did the song generate over 100 million total streams, but the original version also went Gold. Last year, the duo also contributed to the To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You Original Soundtrack.
