Rising pop star Anna Straker reveals her brand new stunning single “Break Up Song” from her upcoming EP ‘Growing Pains‘
Anna now turns the focus onto the intensity of a tumultuous relationship with her new single ‘Break Up Song’. The track previews her new EP ‘Growing Pains’, which follows on December 11th.
The new single ‘Break Up Song’ puts you in Anna’s shoes the morning after a feud threatens to end a relationship. The situation has clearly inspired her creativity, but she’s determined that the situation can be salvaged as she sings, “I don’t wanna fight, I don’t wanna fuck, I don’t wanna say we’re breaking up.” The song juxtaposes the desperation of the lyrics with an exhilarating fusion of hefty house rhythms and electro-pop power. Anna’s voice is again the star of the show, as her huge vocal range is matched by the flood of feelings she expresses.
Anna shares about the new single, “I wrote ‘Break Up Song’ the morning after a massive argument I had with my boyfriend. It captures the angst and fear and desperation you feel when you fight with your lover. When you’ve been with someone a long time and feelings build-up and release in such an explosive way, it’s consuming. I love the dance floor energy of this heartbreak anthem.”
‘Break Up Song’ is the opening track to the ‘Growing Pains’ EP. It collates Anna’s recent singles, creating both a snapshot journal of her recent life and a vital statement of her strengths as an artist. In addition to ‘Break Up Song’ and ‘Boys Will Be Boys’, it features an immensely vulnerable take on recovering from sexual assault with ‘London Knows’ and an acknowledgment of the extremes of mental health on ‘Good Days, Bad Days’ with Gabrielle Aplin, plus the previously unreleased ‘More Like You’.
Anna has earned a flourish of fresh critical acclaim alongside airplay at Radio 1 and BBC Introducing plus a host of impactful playlist additions. She’s now perfectly primed to achieve her full potential in the year ahead.
