Exclusive Interview with Timmy Trumpet, Timmy has forged his way to the top of the industry alongside the influential artists taking the world by storm. His breakthrough release Freaks has reigned in over half a billion streams, reached six times platinum status in Australia, and dominated the charts in ten countries becoming the highest selling track of all time on the Ministry of Sound Australia.
Where are you from?
Sydney, Australia!
Tell us about your new single ‘Tricky Tricky’, how was the work on it, who were the people who contributed to the single and what is the story behind it?
It’s a remake of a classic we all used to play. Will came to us with the idea first and we took it from there. W&W are the best of the best, and Will and I have been making music together for years. Really happy with the result!
Your breakthrough into the music/acting industry was fast, do you remember the moment you realized you were a rising star in the field?
It might seem fast to some, but the honest truth is that it took years of hard work and dedication that started as early as primary school. I’ve been playing the trumpet my whole life and every stage of my life has been about taking my music as far as I could and enjoying the ride along the way. When my track ‘Freaks’ first broke overseas in 2014 I gained a lot of attention and was fortunate enough to play to brand new audiences all over the world, but I’ve never considered myself a star and still don’t today. I’m surrounded by people that I look up to and for that, I’m truly grateful.
Favorite moment from your career?
Way too many moments to ever say but there are a few moments that are hard to top. I performed in Zero Gravity in 2019, playing my first main stage set at Tomorrowland was another, but the moments I’ll never forget have been meeting very special fans that traveled far and wide to see me with personal stories of overcoming challenges that are hard to imagine. Being able to share important moments with people in need and learning what my music means to them is something I never thought would exist and it’s very humbling.
Who were the people who influenced you the most from whom you were inspired?
I’m influenced by everyone and everything. From Miles Davis to Daft Punk and Post Malone, and then working directly with some of my electronic idols like KSHMR, Hardwell and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. I also love hearing anything that I’ve never heard before. Something that shocks you, something that makes you think – “what the fuck was that?!”
What other things do you do besides making music?
I’m fortunate enough to travel the world and play shows in new countries every week. It keeps me very busy, but the best thing is being able to spend time and share experiences with people from all walks of life. I love to party and I love to take in new experiences, but most of all I love working in the industry that I chose. Music is a gift and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What are your goals for the future?
I have a lot of goals but respectfully they are personal 🙂
Please write a message to your fans.
I FKN love you!! Peace, Love and Rock N Roll.
