At age 20, the singer, songwriter, and actor Elle Winter has already amassed a strong fan-base from her early successes in the music and entertainment industry. With her debut EP Yeah, No. set to arrive on March 6, 2020, Winter’s unique voice and emotional approach to songwriting are set to reach more people than ever before.
Where are you from?
I am from New York City! Born and raised.
Tell us about your single ‘Yeah, No.’, how was the work on it, who were the people who contributed to the single and what is the story behind it
I wrote “Yeah, No” in Nashville and the single was then produced by The Orphanage in Los Angeles. I wrote the song after a break up where my ex kept calling to check in on me and make sure I was okay. I felt this person clearly didn’t know me if he thought I needed him to feel okay and get on with my life. I wanted this song to be the title track and lead single of the EP because it embodies a larger theme of my mission as a female artist — to tell my truth and set my narrative regardless of anyone’s assumptions.
After your breakthrough into the music industry, do you remember the moment you realized you were a rising star in the field
I realized that my music was reaching people when I began seeing fans making covers of my songs and people knew all the words to my songs at shows when I performed them. It is truly so fulfilling to know the lyrics I’ve written can form a connection between me and people who listen to my music.
Who is the next artist you would like to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with Ed Sheeran. I think he is such a brilliant songwriter and I would love to work with him someday!
Favorite moment from your career?
The most inspiring moments for me as an artist are when supporters tell me how a song of mine helped them deal with something in their lives.
Who were the people who influenced you the most from whom you were inspired?
I grew up listening to strong, fierce female artists like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Avril Lavigne. These women really inspired me to become a pop artist, I saw them and felt empowered to pursue my dreams as well.
What other things do you do besides making music
I love working out and spending time with my family. I love baking healthy foods and watching a great TV show.
What excites you most about being a Singer and performing around the world
I love performing and sharing my music with people from all different parts of the world and connecting with them through my music. I love visiting new places and experiencing how people live there.
What are your goals for the future?
To reach even more people with my music and continue to push myself to create honest and intimate work.
