Hot on heels with her latest release “Time Alone”, ABISHA Kicks Off With an Impressive New Single “If You Were Mine”
The new single “If You Were Mine” marks the first time Abisha explores garage. A long-time listener and supporter, ABISHA used the genre to get her out of a dark space. A single dedicated to being treated the way you deserve, “If You Were Mine” exudes joy and freedom.
Beginning with a soothing verse remnant of her earlier releases, ABISHA shifts to a completely new element. Through the track’s high-tempo, mixed vocals and multi-layered electric beats, “If You Were Mine” is an infectious dance track waiting to be played at every post-lockdown party.
“If You Were Mine” was written to define what a healthy relationship means to Abisha and how she would treat her next girlfriend right. She explains, “I’m making sure that they know that they are loved and never have to doubt that, no matter what.”
Abisha tells, “Every song I release is always going to be about a girl. My music will always be pride focused. I always want people who are queer to relate to my music and also normalize it to encourage people to be accepting of whoever they are.”
Having previously written tracks on lost love, ABISHA used the single to get out of that headspace. “I wanted to write a track that was the exact opposite of how everyone was feeling at that time” ABISHA explains, “I wanted to create a track that felt like freedom!”
From the release of debut EP, Scorpio, R&B jam “One Night” and a collaboration with FootLocker EU for their#ShoesDontChangeTheWorld campaign, to self-care anthem “Time Alone,” Abisha shared more parts of herself through each project.
In an exclusive interview with Billboard she shared, “I’m discovering who I am as an artist, I’m also discovering who I am as a person, and I’ve finally gotten to a place where I’m happy to stand out and express myself every way I can.”
Not only does the track feel like freedom, but ABISHA’s newest addition to her expanding discography represents it, both in sound and story.
“If You Were Mine” not only brought Abisha out of a dark space, but is a clear indication of the bright future she has ahead.
