SOHMI and Josh Butler (Denton) take us on a ride in their brand new track “Get To You” via Sam Divine’s DVINE
Butler describes the Denton project as an outlet to explore his vocal-leaning productions, which is fitting considering the label is known for showcasing the finest vocal cuts within the dance music sphere.
SOHMI says “after working so well together on our first collaboration, 2020’s ‘Sunday Sunset’, Josh and I knew we wanted to work on something together again. He sent me some bits and ideas and explained his vision for the Denton project, which really resonated with me for its emphasis on memorable vocal melodies, and right away I began writing the topline and what would become the bassline to ‘Get To You’ around those bits. It only took a few hours, and right away, Josh loved the demo I sent him. That’s how we knew we had a record with massive potential on our hands.”
The release comes fresh after her performances as direct support for Boris Brejcha in Denver & Chicago, plus upcoming performances at Coachella, Lightning in A Bottle, Electric Forest, North Coast Festival, Diplo’s Higher Ground, and more set for 2022.
The Los Angeles-based artist has been cultivating her musical prowess since learning classical piano at the early age of 3 and her catalog includes past releases on Yotto’s Odd One Out, Astralwerks, and collaboration with Booka Shade.
After reaching massive success with his 2013 debut, ‘I Got A Feeling,’ Josh Butler went on to win multiple awards from the likes of DJ Mag and Beatport, launch his own label ORIGINS RCRDS, and play iconic stages such as Nocturnal Wonderland, Brooklyn Mirage, and CRSSD.
