San Holo and midwxst deliver new stunning track ‘Out of Options’ via Helix Records
San’s signature electronic sounds and guitar riffs shine through the track’s production, and lays the groundwork for midwxst’s soft spoken, yet hard hitting, emotional verses.
A stunning visual representation of the song, the video shows the dichotomy between the two artists’ sounds and styles.
midwxst attended a San Holo show in Nashville, where they exchanged phone numbers and eventually built a friendship. When San finished the instrumental to “Out Of Options,” he sent it to midwxst who loved it and immediately added his vocals and sonic flair. San Holo also co-produced midwxst’s song “broken” with Whethan last year.
San Holo says: “I’m super inspired by how this younger generation of artists like midwxst approach music. It’s like they hear music in a new way. I’ve always been excited about pushing the boundaries of genres and I think we made something special with ‘Out Of Options.’”
midwxst adds: “Me and San’s relationship is a really unique one. We both come from extremely different backgrounds in music but our soundscapes blend together so effortlessly. The production on this one is just so grand and fits perfectly with the defining sound that people know from me. Sorta like a match made in heaven!”
Always keeping busy with next-level projects, San Holo has sold out a NFT collections for his last singles “DON’T LOOK DOWN” and “All The Highs”, played a pop-up show in an elevator in partnership with taste-making curators Brownies & Lemonade, collaborated with the world-famous Dutch art museum Mauritshuis on a sonic interpretation of a work of art, created special mixes for the popular mental health app Calm and had one of his songs selected for FIFA 2023’s official soundtrack.
This Spring, San Holo has hit the road for his DON’T LOOK DOWN DJ Set Tour. Spanning April to June, the headlining tour has allowed San to road test his unreleased IDs, and lead to sold out shows in Madison, WI and Costa Mesa, CA.
Every note is a story and each lyric a memory, a hyper-real exploration of purpose, emotion, and shared experience. The Dutch producer lives in his own space, crafting a world of beauty and sentiment between the build-and-drop bombast of post-EDM and the intimate musings of ambient post-rock. Having produced EDM (existential dance music) since Soundcloud’s golden era, San’s unique style and honest approach to songwriting have earned him a loyal following that supported his independent debut album and cemented the artist as a star in a league all his own – earning the praise of critics and peers across a multitude of genres. While other artists in the dance music sphere and industry at large may shy away from the rawer aspects of the human experience, San Holo has established himself both as an individual and a brand that encourages listeners to embrace one another’s vulnerabilities.
