Novulent’s new EP BEFORE EVOLUTION explores emotional depth and personal growth. Listen now via Capitol Records.

Novulent, one of alternative music’s most promising new voices, has released his new EP, BEFORE EVOLUTION. Out now via Capitol Records, the three-song project showcases Novulent’s knack for blending raw emotion with genre-defying soundscapes.

The standout track, “death wish,” paints a vivid picture of a toxic relationship as Novulent weaves intense storytelling with dark, cinematic production. Featuring New Zealand’s whatsaheart, the song delves into the volatile emotions of being drawn to someone who feels dangerous. “A toxic relationship feels like a death wish,” says Novulent. “Your emotions are heightened, and it feels like you’re going to be harmed by being around them.”

BEFORE EVOLUTION arrives as Novulent wraps his first headline tour, which included sold-out stops in cities like Chicago and Los Angeles. With support from The Missing Peace and Olive Vox, the Evolution Tour concludes with shows in Texas and New York, including his final stop at Mercury Lounge on February 1.

Known for his breakout track “scars,” which has amassed over 111 million Spotify streams, Novulent has quickly become a standout artist. Starting at just 17 with Bandlab, he’s developed a sound influenced by hard rock, shoegaze, and Midwest emo. Reflecting on his growth, Novulent says, “This EP is a proper expression of emotional vulnerability and how I’ve improved as an artist.”
