22-year-old Artist Lupa gives us a little taste of Upcoming Debut EP ‘Insatiable’ With New Song ‘Darkness‘
Like its predecessor “For The Ride,” Lupa masterfully interpolates vocal chops in her wicked productions. Combining a driving kick with a compelling melodic performance, “Darkness” is emotive techno at its outright best. “Darkness” also features an extended mix set to release alongside its feature edit on Friday, October 1. “I knew I had to release this song the moment I started making it,” says Lupa on her new single. “It fell together effortlessly and playing it live always got the crowd’s attention. The call and response stabs are one of my favorite parts of any song I’ve ever made and the vocals give ‘Darkness’ a unique edge.”
She says: “I was once asked what motivates me to create music and at the time I had no idea how to answer it. I love the music for the sake of art itself, but there was something else deep inside that pushed me even further,” explains Lupa on her Insatiable EP. “When I’m not working on music or art, I’m thinking about it constantly and it’s usually my first waking thought. The only thing I have is this relentless motivation for self expression and it’s the only thing I need. This EP represents that fierce, undefinable feeling in my gut, an insatiable hunger.”
Brandishing a unique style of new wave techno, the creative reinvents the wheel of traditional club sound. Inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode and the Talking Heads, Lupa’s sound is all-encompassing gritty darkness. Creating music and art with the viewer in mind, the now-22-year-old artist cut her teeth on the music of the UK underground before deciding to pursue DJing and production full-time.
