We all have a Grace. Whether they are someone still present in our daily lives, someone we have lost, or a fleeting acquaintance who redirected the course of our journey, these figures remain etched in our memory. This universal human experience serves as the foundation for “Grace,” the latest single from Billboard charting singer-songwriter and award-winning performer Tara Macri, available on all streaming platforms starting July 31.

Moving beyond typical tropes of heartbreak or loss, Macri uses this release to examine the enduring influence of the people who fundamentally shape our identity. The song originated at Macri’s piano during a period of personal reflection, as she sought a sense of peace regarding a loved one. What began as an intimate inquiry evolved into a broader anthem about the connections that persist through time. “I realized we all have those people,” says Macri. “The ones who shape us, stay with us, and become part of who we are.”

The track underwent a transformation in the studio under the guidance of producer Jordan “AliasOne” Winfield, who helped expand the initial piano demo into a sweeping, cinematic pop anthem. The final sound was polished by five-time GRAMMY Award winner Chris Lord Alge, resulting in a production that bridges the gap between delicate introspection and a powerful, expansive soundscape.

Accompanying the release is a visually evocative music video directed by Julia Baylis and Sam Guest of Anarene Films. Filmed against the urban backdrop of New York City, the video depicts a series of intersecting lives among strangers. “Grace is an odyssey through New York,” say Baylis and Guest. “It’s a dreamlike journey through the city where a group of people, at first disconnected, find one another through an ethereal moment, discovering strength in connection on a single city street where strangers pass every day.”

Macri, who has established an extensive career across Broadway, film, and television, continues to utilize songwriting as her most authentic medium. Known for her performances in “Hairspray,” “Jersey Boys,” and “The First Wives Club,” as well as her award-winning role in “Outcry,” she has successfully translated her performance prowess into a music career marked by Billboard successes like “Prettiest Girl in the Room.” “Grace” represents the start of a significant new chapter for Macri, offering a poignant reminder that those who shape us are forever part of our story.
